Bent Words

July 21, 2022

I might be straight tripping. It might have been anyone. It might have been a dream and now I'm living in the flashback of a sleepy but lifelike memory.

That's how it all seems really. Surreal. The hands of time opening the gap on the past and allowing me in for a moment. Holding back time to usher me into another.

I wish I could be just as I was back then. So certain, so sure. There are so many things I have become so unsure of but that was one of the few things I marched up to and claimed. From the very first moment.

The tears today are dedicated to my uncertainty. My love story. My physical remembrances. My sadness. The happy and the unhappy moments that still take me by the shoulders and shake me. Every damn day. I don't know if anything is right or wrong or clear enough to even properly read anymore but I do know it's sad.

Tried to keep you close to me
But life got in between
Tried to square not being there
But think that I should have been
Hold back the river, let me look in your eyes
Hold back the river, so I
Can stop for a minute and see where you hide
Hold back the river, hold back
Once upon a different life
We rode our bikes into the sky
But now we crawl against the tide
Those distant days are flashing by
Hold back the river, let me look in your eyes
Hold back the river, so I
Can stop for a minute and be by your side
Hold back the river, hold back
Hold back the river, let me look in your eyes
Hold back the river, so I
Can stop for a minute and see where you hide
Hold back the river, hold back
Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh-oh
Lonely water, lonely water, won't you let us wander?
Let us hold each other
Lonely water, lonely water, won't you let us wander?
Let us hold each other
Hold back the river, let me look in your eyes
Hold back the river, so I
Can stop for a minute and be by your side
Hold back the river, hold back
Hold back the river, let me look in your eyes
Hold back the river, so I
Can stop for a minute and be by your side
Hold back the river, hold
Lonely water, lonely water, won't you let us wander?
Let us hold each other
Lonely water, lonely water, won't you let us wander?
Let us hold each other
