Bent Words

Bent Words

July 11, 2004

Carefully I crawl out onto this familiar limb

Fearing my heart yet desperately reaching for him

Outstretching each finger, fearing the fall

Holding back nothing and still risking it all

Catching my last breath, moving forward so slow

Tightly closing my eyes from the cold ground below

Calling out louder, awaiting your return

Listening for the answer to which I deeply yearn

Bending the branch that long ago held so strong

Questioning each move as though it were wrong

Taking the chance, risking the fall

Taking the leap that love conquers all...
